Culture Reggae Festival is a one-day celebration of reggae music and Caribbean culture held each August on the riverfront grounds of the old Worumbo Mill in Lisbon Falls, Maine. Founded in 2024, the festival has brought Turbulence, Warrior King and Ginjah to Maine alongside the region's own reggae bands, with Caribbean food and craft vendors and a kids zone. It is timed to the week Jamaica celebrates Emancipation and Independence. After two editions and a year off to rebuild, the festival returns on Saturday, August 7, 2027.

The place

The festival takes place on the Androscoggin River at the site of the Worumbo Mill, a woolen mill founded in 1864 whose fine cloth was known well beyond Maine. The mill burned in 1987 and its last building came down in 2016. The Town of Lisbon bought the riverfront in 2019, and in 2022 the Town Council voted to make it a community event ground. It is run by Friends of Worumbo. Lisbon, population 9,711 at the 2020 census, is in Androscoggin County, about 30 minutes from Portland, Lewiston-Auburn and Brunswick — and is also the home of Moxie, Maine's official soft drink.
